Customer Review: Still Works After All These Years

I was a little surprised to read some of the negative reviews on this camcorder. I bought this camcorder about eight years ago. At that time, it was considered compact. Laughable for today's standards. I used it about four times. Once on our vacation, which I used it heavily for seven days and created four tapes at 90 minutes each. The other occassions were for baby showers, which were over an hour each. I only ever had problems with focus while attempting to zoom in and out too fast. The picture quality was otherwise excellent, even in low light--just not in near darkness. The camcorder collected dust in my closet for the last, oh...SIX YEARS! I thought I wanted to take it along on our upcoming trip but figured there was no way the battery would still be good--if the camcorder would even work at all. I let the battery charge overnight. To my shock, it worked. Not only did it work, but the battery lasted just as long as I remember it lasting when I first used it. Mind you, I didn't store the battery inside the camcorder. That would be a huge no-no. Even the brand new tapes from six years ago were in perfect condition. People can say what they want about this camcorder, but mine has stood the sands of time rather well. Sadly, I want something smaller to replace it, but I fear I may give up video quality.
